FAQ: Antifouling

Quick answers from our team – checked for use on board.

Hard or self-polishing antifouling – which suits my boat?

Hard antifouling forms a tough, abrasion-resistant film – ideal for fast boats, trailer boats and hulls that get cleaned. Self-polishing antifouling wears away slowly while moving, constantly renewing its active surface – ideal for boats that stay in the water all season and travel at moderate speed.

How many coats do I need?

Usually two coats. On high-wear areas – the waterline and the leading edges of keel and rudder – an additional third coat is worth it.

When can the boat go back in the water after painting?

That depends on the product, temperature and humidity. The overcoating and launch times in the antifouling's technical data sheet are what counts. Drying times get considerably longer in cold weather.
